Several years ago I did a major purge of my sock drawer. I saved the best of the really nice dress socks (for formal occasions? Ha, ha.) and the best of the thick winter socks. To be honest, we buy multi-packs of socks so that the odds are we will find an "unholey" matching pair. The last multi-pack (6 pairs) of Gold Toe men's Cotton Crew Black socks lasted about a year (in general rotation and with some reluctant darning). My recent repurchase of 6 pairs (June 2019) should get me through another year. I haven't bought Hanes or Fruit of the Loom multi-pack socks in two plus years; not because I consider them to be inferior, but because I hate matching socks!
I ordered a 6-pack of Medium undershirts (just ordered more) and they fit-to-a-Tee (pardon the pun). The Actual size comes "after" the wash n dry shrinkage.
Sooooo soft. Slightly stretchy and, for my money, just the right thickness for an "undershirt". (Remember, theses are NOT your, "thick", colored TEE shirts hanging on the rack. These are traditional undershirts).
Inasmuchas it is true that Hanes Tee shirts are thinner now, as are their socks, than in yesteryear, I still feel the quality is there.
And let's face it, it is a fact of life that all things cotton shrink. Regardless of marketing claims.

2. I wear a medium-size blouse.
3. The shrts are a little big when new.
4. After washing in cold water and Drying on MEDIUM heat, they become Spot-on Medium.
